The Keyboard is the computer has been an obvious idea for so long. I really thought that was what the whole master plan with Apple's touch bar was about. They were going to launch a macbook that was just the base (no screen), and the touchbar gave them just enough screen to enable linking to external monitors.

I totally agree!  Wiring up an earlier Raspberry Pi looks ridiculous when you have to have full size components plugged into it from all sides.  This is a much more elegant solution
