Europe won’t ditch U.S. aesthetically, but China’s state-backed firms (EVs, e-comm) undercut in a world of 8 billion people. U.S. must fix tax loopholes + reinvest in alliances or lose influence. If the spiral continues, don’t be surprised when the U.S. slips behind China, Europe, and—just to rub it in—California, as the world’s fourth-largest economy, watching the rest of the country from across a firewall of its own design.

These are fundamentally contradictory fantasies. One is about imperial might and global dominance. The other is about rejecting "foreign" influence and celebrating a mythologized rural Americana. The fundamental bug is trying to run mutually exclusive political processes in parallel while sharing the same memory space.
