I want to support people not platforms so if they do it right I’m down but considering the realities I doubt they will impress fans or creators in a meaningful way that warrants migrating from other tools. Spotify and other incumbents are antisocial in a lot of frustrating ways

I agree, just seems like another tactic to gain more leverage and data. I highly doubt smaller artists will benefit from this.

Smaller artists just need to become talent development guilds, mint culturally relevant assets, leverage them in other communities, and build value the same ways they did centuries ago. Guilds, public societies, trade orgs, etc. Not much left but ok by me. Healthier in many ways. Annoyingly meritocratic though
