Kinda gloomy, which I sympathetic to, but ultimatley disagree with the take. Worth a read though. https://rafichaudhury.com/site/blog/Freehand-Web

"the Internet feels like it has lost most of its magic." "Websites still exist, but they too have consolidated themselves into blog-based periodicals at the mercy of search algorithms" "the only people making websites anymore are those that look to monetize it in some way." šŸ˜„

i think those are true of the superficial internet and that's how a lot of ppl engage with it (whether by conscious choice or not) i don't think the magic is gone. it just takes a bit more effort to dig and find the magic these days bc of all the noise but it's still there ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ

Maybe I'm just a totally naive optimist, still full of wonder at how cool the Internet is. I can't seem to shake the feeling. I get why that might be a little weird, but there's still so much to discover. I guess that's what keeps me so excited.

i think it's possible to be in awe of the internet but also acknowledge that parts of it are broken (āŒ’_āŒ’;) it's like having faith in humanity even though there is a lot of bad stuff in there too. writing an article to share about some obscure web tool that exists shows that the author still has some hope imo
