For some reason, this doesn't sound inviting to me. I prefer to purchase artist merchandise directly from the artists rather than through Spotify. Would love to hear more thoughts... https://techcrunch.com/2023/10/16/spotify-launching-personalized-in-app-merch-hub/

Overall, I think I like this, especially since they are working with Shopify to do it. That means the artists own the relationship with their fans. That's important, essential even. I'll be interested to hear about the successes, especially for smaller artists.

That said, it feels like table stakes. Will be interesting to see what Spotify does to help artists, who they help and what they do to help. Engaging with fans where they are engaged with music has not historically worked well, but hats off to Spotify for checking the box.

This is an effort to change the conversation tho. There is a perception that Spotify doesn't care about artists so anything they can do to counter that is a good thing. There are people that definitely care about music and artists at Spotify.
