Request for parents and children alike... What mantras, slogans, or common phrases do you have for yourself as a parent? If you don't have children yet, do you remember any your parents had? 100 $DEGEN tip to up to ten of my favorites. If we get a good turnout, I'd love to compile these. @bountybot

Oh I have a LOT! 42ily is the the most common. My girls, 10 & 9, know 42 is my favorite number and it serves as a reminder for me to find something that brings me love and hope — so when I see/think/hear 42 I say “42 I love YOU” “Puff up your chest, take a deep breath, you’re gonna be ok” this is a song “Keep up the weird!” I have way more, but I sing a lot to my girls and partner and fur babies —so most are like “slow down you’re doing fine” or “hit the road jack”

Yas! Thank you 🙏🏼 My favorite is when my youngest came home and told me a little boy had called her weird and she said to me “yeah but he didn’t say weird the way that you say weird, mom—so I just laughed— he thought he was being mean but I thought it was funny“ Do you have any good mantras you rotate?

Your youngest sounds awesome! My son is 2, nearly 3. "space and grace" is a new one that I got from a friend that's been wonderful. "misbehavior is often behavior in the wrong context" is another go-to. I presume this is the case for most 2yos, but ours likewise is extremely opinionated but also very gentle/pure-hearted, so being able to reframe what's going on and figure things out is nearly always the way. with my son I don't think we're at the level of reciting phrases yet, but we'll definitely get there.

I like that “wrong context” — I’m always advocating for my littles, so often I find spaces that are anti children or they view children as lesser than adults—often people will mistake misbehavior as something more than out of context. I loved the toddler phase with my girls, they absorbed sooo much and were the most chaotic-curious beings I’ve ever seen! Most of the time our frustrations were with not being able to do what they want, due to size and skill— their brains were far beyond what their bodies were capable of and it caused “outbursts”
