I've always been a little perplexed that Seattle, home to Microsoft and Amazon, has struggled to maintain a vibrant startup community. 😥 https://www.geekwire.com/2024/techstars-seattle-is-shutting-down-as-accelerator-shifts-focus-to-cities-with-more-vc-activity/

I've long harbored the opinion that it's *because* the tech environment is so dominated by MSFT & AMZN that the money flowing into the startup scene doesn't really understand startup ecosystems. They're def smart folks, but you can't "Amazon Way" into a successful startup VC.

I lived in Menlo Park in the SF Bay Area, home to Sandhill road - famous for the line of VC offices founders do a parade down. My favorite coffee shop there would have VCs and founders doing deals right there. I've yet to find any geographic hub of VC/Founder activity in the Seattle area.

sad. The only vc events I’ve attended are all from Madrona. Any other events recommended?
