I don't think I ever had imaginary friends, but when reading I'd get lost in the lives of the book characters, seeing their stories play out in my imagination. As an adult I still find myself wandering down interesting paths only seen in my head. Sometimes its technical imaginings, sometimes its a "what if" scenario.

They wanted to put me in the gifted program bc I'd ace my work and draw all over my papers, but I was too worried about being seen as an outcast so i told my mom no. In hindsight, I wish she had told me to STFU.

This is wonderful, thank you for sharing. I’m reminded of Misha, my imaginary best friend who I forgot about until my 21st birthday. Sounds like you’ve had experience. My son constantly plays with his willy (British for penis) - I’ve resorted to tying his hands behind his back.. He’s 18 now, he should know better
