How busy are your kids? Our 8 year old has done it all. Every sport. Every club. Every fine art. Since he was 18 months old. These past couple of years, I've started subtracting stuff rather than adding, and it's EVERYTHING.

My 8 year old revolted a little time ago. He likes time to play on his own. We had times where he had activities every day. He was exhausted and hated it. We have cut WAY back. He seems happier. If he says he's bored we remind him its his choice. I think giving them some sense of autonomy is important.

That's just as important for the parents as it is for the kids. Kids need time to just play. Parents need time to exhale and not just be working and then driving their kids around all day. Something we're actively trying to course correct.

We are doing the same thing, we’ve done everything with our eldest and finding that weeding out some of the things he has less passion for and replacing it with family time. It’s been great when we have time to enjoy each other and not always running around.

Kinda went in reverse tbh; went from doing a lot pre, but since post-Covid not really doing enough. He’s lost interest in the sports he was doing and isn’t really interested in an extracurricular activity at the moment. Thankfully he still burns enough calories, but hoping something piques his interest soon.
