Where do people currently stand on remote vs. in person? At least for an early stage iterating and changing fast, my view is that nothing beats being in the same room.

Working at one of the world's largest distributed companies (Automattic), I can tell you tat nothing beats IRL if you wanna innovate. For early-stage startups these days, start from a hybrid setup, which keeps both options open for a while until you figure out PMF and hiring constraints.
