Consumers do care about branding, especially as a top-of-funnel driver for awareness. Lens had a subpar product and subpar community, which is why people didn't stay nor care about it.

x had a better branding before elon. they put thought into it. people are not going to leave just because they don't like the rebrand. with that said brand is a balance it's not black or white You don't need a whole rebrand unless your brand has hit rock bottom, a "refresh" usually is a good starting point for most companies
