have been away for a bit, but I have no idea why we need a namespace like basenames. why have names for every chain. don’t we already have ENS.

I think it's mostly marketing + cost hopefully ENSv2 brings ENS usage to L2's and makes ENS useful again. Im not gonna pay 20$ usd to update my PFP on mainnet each week
