What causes boredom for the average Person is probably being idle or a lack of interest in what dey are doing, probably it's not stimulating enough even if it's work. The remedy for that(instant gratification) has to be something so inane and nonsensical that it's on the other end of the spectrum. Which of course comes at a cost because while it provides a temporary fix, it impairs ability to focus, and sustain interest in meaningful activities like work.

Learning stimulates the brain and isn’t necessarily bad for you though? There’s plenty of educational content on social media

That's why I said the "average person" I don't think the average person would turn to "educational content" to cure boredom.

Yeahh, you have the pull, you can make a poll on FC , "what content do you watch on social media when bored" Educational content or brain rotting content I really want to see the results of this on FC because for the longest time, I've believed people here are wayyy too serious. Curious to see which of my biases is gonna be confirmed.
