My gut tells me if we stopped the tipping culture in the US, the actual money made by restaurants/workers wouldn’t change much. Wdyt?

In NY employers pay tipped employees $10.65 per hr and its 'expected' that your tips will earn you at least min wage of $15 per hr..... also, most of the time the 'service fee' you are charged does not go to the server.... and if you tip on a credit card some places pool all tips and split with everyone on shift.

How did you find out about the service fee not going to them? It goes to the restaurant to "pay employee benefits" right? I've thought about asking them to take it off tbh; do servers care if they are asked to remove it?
