I actually think we're probably already at the point where the marginal bit of anti-wokeness is on balance more bad than good. (Not the same as wokeness being good, because anti-wokeness doesn't just fight wokeness, it also has many, IMO mostly bad, side effects) https://twitter.com/0FJAKE/status/1783928239099875386

Keeping the society in conflict mentality; fighting against things that are sensible just because the other side happens to support them; sometimes weakening norms around human decency... Basically issues common to any movement that focuses too strongly on being against things and lacks a positive vision.

Yea I guess this has more to do with the polarized nature of any civil discourse these days. I do wonder if anti-woke can achieve its goal without gravitating towards the extreme. Seems unlikely.

I think the productive thing would be to have a movement that is explicitly pro something. Could even be eg. "merit" - but then, pursue merit even in contexts where pursuing merit doesn't involve fighting anyone.

Yea I would definitely agree in theory. Although in practice I don't know how you could effectively rally the crowd without a common foe... Especially when it's prisoner's dilemma since this is the very tactic that the other side is employing
