Think about who is driving this conversation. By and large it is not organic user feedback as it is employees The Lens marketing team is manufacturing this perceptual divide in an attempt to win net new users; punching up at the more successful service. I don’t believe it is a reflection of the reality today, but them trying to shape the future

It is a reflection of dwr’s contempt for artists and their opinions of his protocol and client. Why do you think dwr used AI generated images for all the commemorative Warpcast or token artworks? Revealed preference: art isn’t important enough to hire a human to make something cool for our culture here

what led you to draw this conclusion about someone else’s contempt? and in the early days when there were like 200 of us on the network, which FC-native AI artists (other than 0xen and yourself) would you have chosen to commission the commemorative tokens?

I’m not an AI artist though, that’s the problem and that’s where the revelation occurs. Many artists still look down on AI shit, many here in this space as well, they just won’t say it as much as it doesn’t make anyone any friends. Whether it’s contempt or just a complete lack of care is another thing but both aren’t cool.

people look down on all types of art, fwiw, not just AI art. that’s part of the point of art — to provoke a reaction. so you think commissioning art for a protocol upgrade >> building a product where AI artists can a) integrate actual art platforms (like highlight) and b) sell their art directly in-feed?

commissioning art for a protocol goes a long way in establishing that one actually cares about seriously developing a culture and treating artists the way they should be treated we're expected to believe the culture is a heavy consideration if the imagery surrounding it is hollow shit spit out of a blackbox?
