Possibly the fact there isn’t obviously visible pre-established subcommunities for them to observe or join into Sure there’s channels, but the masses tend to seek a tribe to perform for and within and one could say there isn’t much semblance of tribes here that feel accessible to such folks Maybe? 🤷

i was thinking how some of the most online ppl i know are miladyposters. but milady posting can't really work on fc in its current form bc it's not only performing for the tribe but also the shock of bumping against normal twitter. fc is still quite specialized and not "normal." same with classic shitposters like dril

But yeah to your point, the reactionaries don’t have much to react against here, and even if they do: they are quickly booed apparently i rub some folx the wrong way when I trash Zuck for instance—if I just found the Farcasters who also despise shitty tasteless surveillance sweatshop billionaires, I’d fit in

key to bsky growth was importing a lot of "weird twitter" (even twitter growth was due to wt.) but also imported many "ppl who like to argue online" which makes bsky annoying (￢_￢;) so not great to emulate. when i joined fc last year i did wonder where weird fc was i'm with u re: surveillance capitalism (⌒_⌒;)

i thot i was amongst peers who felt the same about surveillance capitalism considering this whole “web3” mumbo jumbo was about giving the middle finger to most of web2, but it seems blind billionaire worship is still a thing 😮💨 i had hope for bsky but yeah by and large it’s captured by annoying stuff

some cognitive dissonance but also like the tolerance paradox – if you advocate free and open systems then i suppose ppl are free to admire unethical surveillance billionaires even if i don't ¯\_(ツ)_/¯??
