how can i become a competent designer? unfortunately i was not born with much relevant intuition

The easy path: copy “be inspired” and study successful designs and designers.

The advanced path: learn a little bit design theory and do a lot of design work 😉

I do both, but I believe @0xdesigner is the man to ask.

and, there are lots of free figma design systems that you can simply reverse engineer to learn the tooling.
