What are you best tips about titles in companies?

keep them flat, i.e. design, engineering, product, sales ... whoever needs external facing title, make it look great - even let them pick.

Ultimately titles mean nothing these days because they're all compromised by overuse, so you anyway have to explain what that means - so if your culture (and industry) allows, make them fun. People generally loved funny titles and will use them everywhere.

Well, agreed that it will bring up smile or smirk and you’ll have to explain. 

On the other hand, tell me a title which you know what the person does when they say it? You’ll assume something but it will be totally different from company to company. 

Even if you take so simple titles like CFO, COO, CMO 🤷‍♂️ CFO often does operations early on or early COO will do all three

Agree for the flatness.
For the creativity part my fear is that it would create confusion, but great idea.
