AGI seems to me (ignoring what it can potentially do) it seems like it helps a certain subset of nerds tickle a lack of spirituality, to have religion within this Nietzschean post-modern landscape w/o calling it religion. Spirituality is a fundamental human behavior, both socially and cognitively. It seems we're predisposed (susceptible?) to it, albeit different cultures and generations need different framing. The AGI God thing doesn't tickle me so much as Carl Sagan style spirituality, probs because I read Contact as a teen.
