AGI seems to me (ignoring what it can potentially do) it seems like it helps a certain subset of nerds tickle a lack of spirituality, to have religion within this Nietzschean post-modern landscape w/o calling it religion. I used to think about how that was silly. Recently I think that is naive of me, and Iwas wrong

Spirituality is a fundamental human behavior, both socially and cognitively. It seems we're predisposed (susceptible?) to it, albeit different cultures and generations need different framing. The AGI God thing doesn't tickle me so much as Carl Sagan style spirituality, probs because I read Contact as a teen.

I think we will see AGI religions pop up for sure. If we reach true AGI and it has that level of intelligence and ability to understand/effectively single handedly govern humanity, 🤷♂️ it could very well appear like a deity to many Was talking about this with someone at OpenAI about 8 months ago and it was already on their mind
