I think we have a very complicated relationship with the word "work". One hack I learned in my early teens is to refer to everything I do as "work", especially when family is asking what you're doing. Reminds me of when I moved from Toronto to the Bay Area, it was jarring to notice that everyone referred to everything as "a startup" that in Toronto we'd just call "a project"

One of my kids went to a Montessori preschool. I remember chuckling at one of their values: “Freedom to Play; Freedom to Work” But it did highlight that work and play have an interesting relationship, and for kids (and lucky adults) sometimes are the same thing
