Before starting to build @highlight in earnest, @emodi spent six months doing market research to identify what the crypto landscape really needed.

As a lover of digital art, the answer he landed on was: YouTube for NFTs. Minus the adversarial relationship between YouTube and creators, because Highlight prioritizes artists' ownership of their own means of production. It's the kind of platform-creator relationship that isn't possible in web2, but should be table stakes for web3.

highlight.xyz is an open-access platform for creating and collecting digital art and culture.
