Following up on the cast between growth hacking and fraud Many crypto projects "growth hacked" their user base, Discord servers, and TG. They could argue it is just marketing, but without disclosure it is 100% fraud.

Not saying its right, but it's pervasive across the industry. It's incumbent on the investor / acquirer to sus-out the reality. Perfect world that wouldn't be necessary, but in diligence I expect the onus is on me, and I assume that if there's a way to game the numbers, someone I'm speaking to is trying to do it.

It's always a fine line to walk - digging so deep that it likely feels somewhat offensive to honest first-time founders who wouldn't contemplate gaming the numbers. Our job is a large part risk management though: figuring out what might go wrong (as well as what could go right) so we can underwrite accurately.

I always tell the Associates I work with, “if you haven't yet identified the catastrophic risk to the business, you don't understand it well enough to recommend an investment”
