I wonder if sampling bias or differing interpretations of “influencer” (yes, the quotes are intentional) are most driving the diverging opinions.

I'm of the opinion that if you want the CEO title, you need to expect to be in the limelight (you're the leader) and selling all the time.

You can't leave marketing/sales up to someone else.

I totally agree on being an 'influencer', although I can see why many might not

there are people who I've seen who are of the mindset of let the product speak for itself, that's what marketing is for, or who just don't want limelight

You probably over indexed on aspiring (or current) influencers based on the population. 😁
