My 2 cents: yes, she has agency as @keccers.eth mentioned. However, it’s way more difficult to use that agency and do whatever you want when you’re under tremendous pressure from your religious upbringing, from your husband that forces a first date on your flight to NY and later on from having at least one of stream of incomes come from you flying the flag of your lifestyle high on social media for millions of people to see. We’ll prob never know if she’s really happy or regrets not being a dancer anymore. It’s more useful to ask, why does she feel she needs to compete in a beauty pageant (won’t even get into this rn haha) only 12 days after birth? Why does she feel like she needs to give up her dreams? Why does she feel she needs to hide the epidural from her husband? These are very specific to her, but women everywhere go through similar situations of erasing themselves to conform to the life that’s expected of them @ted

I do think you’re asking the right questions. There seemed an extremely strong element of control by her husband which was disturbing…
