2/ We performed chain benchmarking on typical hardware used by current node operators, simulating the effect of increasing the throughput of our sequencer by up to triple the current target.

3/ In this benchmarking, we evaluated what 2x and 3x gas target increases would look like from a node operation perspective. We saw some elevated CPU usage, but within comfortable thresholds.

4/ These results made us comfortable with the following plan: Starting tomorrow (3/27) we'll increase target throughput by 50% and observe the impact. If all goes well, we'll target another bump in throughput next week to get us to at least double today's target.
