1/ Last week I wrote I was pretty confident we could double Base's execution throughput without any issue, but also noted we wanted to more than "pretty confident" before making any moves. Well now are!

2/ We performed chain benchmarking on typical hardware used by current node operators, simulating the effect of increasing the throughput of our sequencer by up to triple the current target.

3/ In this benchmarking, we evaluated what 2x and 3x gas target increases would look like from a node operation perspective. We saw some elevated CPU usage, but within comfortable thresholds.

4/ These results made us comfortable with the following plan:

Starting tomorrow (3/27) we'll increase target throughput by 50% and observe the impact. If all goes well, we'll target another bump in throughput next week to get us to at least double today's target.

6/ This is just the beginning of an aggressive scaling effort. Alongside increasing target throughput, we’re working managing state growth, increasing Ethereum L1 data availability, and further execution scaling. Stay tuned for more! (end)
