We were at the shrine at 7 a.m., and it was already starting to get crowded. By the time we left, there were about six times as many people as when we arrived.

We didn’t try to get to the top of the mountain because of the heat.

We almost died in the bamboo forest because of the heat. We actually came back to the hotel because my wife wasn’t feeling well for that reason.

It’s sad because we know we’d love everything we’re visiting, but the heat is turning it into a bad experience.
