I actually didn't realize it settles based on the series. Bracky had a hunch that I didn't really understand what I was betting on and clarified it for me before placing my bet.

Agree with all your points. How were thinking is: if we lean on UI too heavily atm, we will miss out on solving the really tough challenge here:
