Imo this is very alarming. It’s one thing to have a therapist that is unregulated, it’s another to have a therapist that is not aligned with you at all (i.e. controlled by a for-profit startup)

Alarming but also exciting, because like most tools it has great potential for both assistance and abuse. I think what will be important is for there to be competition in the AI therapist space so that there are at least options to choose from if one gets too profit-seeking pushy (and hopefully if the companies are competing to win "patients" against each other, they will have incentive to provide the best service)
