Legal question I keep coming back to: Aren’t some of these tokens/memecoins going to come up against sharky lawyers going after them for illegal securities claims? Nothing about the law in the US has changed since the ICO era Launching one still seems incredibly risky to me

Yes, quite a few have commented how launching one of these should not be done by persons of US personhood

Absolutely, and some of the takes on how they are being rolled out may come back to bite them in the end, best hope for them is that they are wildly successful and no losers, and even then--there is risk. Using points, a'la "frequent flyer miles" pre-token to prove utility value is a good start though.

Its am open question. The fact that meme coins are centralised and need a team to manage it would make it a security but then again Meme tokens don’t give holders ownership rights or promise profits based on others’ efforts, thus not a security. Fact is the sec have so far gone out of their way to confuse.

Exactly why I won't launch one even though I would love to make a token for my community 🙃
