This is the cryptography channel, but it's something of interest for any networks pursuing post quantum secure schemes

There's a few networks out there experimenting with fully homomorphic encryption, which frequently relies on constructions based on LWE, which this directly maps to a feasible attack with quantum computers. Truly interesting times!

If there are no quantum secure algorithms available, the entire crypto space ( as well anything else which requires secure communication ) has major problems in a few years.

If your time horizon of interest in web3 is limited to the current cycle, no it doesn't.  If it extends much beyond that, yes it does.
