Investment analyst Aleksandr Razujev sees Russia's exemption from tariffs first and foremost as a sign of friendship. “It is friendly both to our country and personally to President Vladimir Putin.” Razuyev writes that tariffs raise the prices of all goods in the world, which also makes imports to Russia more expensive. He believes that Trump's tariffs will also have a negative impact on Russia's economy, even though it avoids tariffs, unlike 185 other countries. Razuyev predicts the trade war will lead to a global recession and lower oil prices, which will be detrimental to the Russian economy. But he is looking ahead.
