I don’t feel like an effective teacher lately. Students are exhibiting the same unexpected behaviors. 

Today I noticed two different students who had items prohibited by school policy. I decided to enforce the school policy and both students became very dysregulated for the rest of the day.

hmmm, I think the two events are not mutually exclusive. I think you should dig deeper into why you think you're not an effective teacher?

also, depends on the nature of the items that were prohibited, the kids might just be addicted to them, and not just vapes, people are addicted to phones too

It's really not enough for a teacher to be effective. Nowadays , social media has the greatest impact on children; sometimes there's nothing we can do.

You're being compassionate towards them by showing them how a lawful society works!
