Imagine a world of small city-states None so large that it can crash the world economy All in a global defensive alliance So that none can aggress their neighbor without fearing retaliation All representing the range of socioeconomic and political options So that people can choose the one that suits them best And a true meritocracy emerges among nations Who’s building that?

🙋‍♂️ what @aviationdoctor.eth is talking about seems very connected to what i call structured messiness https://vaughntan.org/structuredmess

Also I remember reading an article about Japanese urban architecture, and there was a word for the vertical arrangement of restaurants and bars across floors inside buildings, instead of being storefronts at street level. But I can’t find that article anymore, nor the specific name of this concept. Any idea?

zakkyo is the term for miscellaneous use, which often drives verticalisation and densification of mixed use (that's the concept i illustrate structured messiness with in the essay) are you thinking of Noah's article?
