Not really — I care more about the operator than the design authority / OEM.

Virtually every commercial aircraft that is certified to fly is safe to be on as long as it’s adequately maintained and competently flown (IOSA registration is a good proxy for that). I don’t mind flying on a B737 MAX 8 or 9 in that case, for instance.

Of course, some models correlate negatively with that — for example, I wouldn’t fly on an Ilyushin or a Tupolev, but mostly because they tend to be operated by third-world carriers with shoddy maintenance and a questionable safety culture.

Same for the ATR (42/72) or similar, which is a safe design but accident-prone when operated by exotic carriers in remote locations

Are there any makes / models of commercial aircraft you would just NOT fly in? (Just thinking of passenger planes.)

Production capacity is turbo-fucked anyway, the backlog for new aircraft extends to 2028 or more at this point.

Boeing was already focusing on fixing its manufacturing issues rather than increasing production, so in the grand scheme of things, I don’t think a temporary strike will have a large impact.

But it’s another instance of death by a thousand cuts for Boeing
