re idOS - There are a number of consortium members from different networks that are bootstrapping the initiative, so you'd need to be building on one of those networks to begin with and I would assume other networks would join as and when. I wouldn't call that a closed ecosystem though. re Radix - again, anyone can build on Radix. The Radix mobile wallet is the preferred device for use on the network, but it's open source and anyone can build competing wallets. Indeed there is a community dev of a desktop wallet. Copper have also built their own institutional wallet.

re "the problem is hard". It's certainly difficult to retro-fit this in to existing architectures. Benefit that Radix has is that all the lesson's learned from other networks have been taking on board and they've built the platform with native assets, account and core primitives in such a way that is perfect for crypto

Agreed with regards to to what was shown in the RadFi demo video versus now. The key point is that the foundations to offer all the sexy features showcased are there, it's just a case of implementing them. Items like MFA account signing and recovery ie. no more seed phrases is something I'm really looking forward to

10 years on R&D on the consensus algo... Achieving linear scalability without breaking atomic composability. The Smart Contract stack incl native AA, Scrypto, Wallet, etc has been in dev since 2020.
