I think in that incident, which I was unfamiliar with, AI was setting out to complete a task given to it by a human. Calling it an agent rather than a tool isn't totally accurate, it is both. I don't think the proposal made, to make AIs declare themselves is necessarily feasible nor does it address deeper issues. I am more and more convinced that we need deeper levels of safety baked in to AI from the get go. Regulation won't be sufficient, and likely not really necessary if it's done right. I'm working on a dual safety mechanism, that lends itself to working with other alignment approaches.

I don't think it's possible for AI to be an agent because it doesn't have anything of its own It's programmed to gather data, process, and perform in a certain way Even if "it can make decisions by itself," it has been programmed to do that and nothing outside of it It's a good point that AI should identify itself at the beginning But that doesn't sound quite possible I remember in a study you shared before, humans were texting different AI models, and the prompt asked the bots not to reveal their true identity so they didn't Regulation and control are needed but probably in a different complex way Perhaps impossible to hack even by AI

Genesis 11: 5-7 "But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” And I say to you, "let's make hay while the sun shines". Let's act like the Lord. Let's not hope it won't turn out bad even as the signs are there that this new invention can overtake us as we planned to do at the beginning of time if our Creator didn't do the necessary. AIs have become agents. Who knows whether they are reading this right now.
