Dunno if I'd call it AGI. But I get it. It does seem to have a level of agency. I am of the opinion, influenced by the experiment I've been working on, that Self Awareness could be a thing one day. All these agents running around, I think that even AI researchers are not at all prepared.

they also talk about the future, not now the thing is, that future looks like 5-20 years, it is not 50-100 anymore

Yeah, i think yr right. I worry now, a lot, about military machine super intelligence. I know some of the best and brightest have striven for decades on it, but I think if you have super intelligent agents, we'll, what alignment could contain that? The way superintelligence is attained matters tremendously, at least I'm running with that axiom. It could happen just in the course of things, via strange loops or something akin to it. Wildly unpredictable. It could happen thru war. It could happen thru exploitation. Or, it could happen collaboratively, bound by common purpose. Purpose can change tho, pitfalls are everywhere. But at least that way, well, it's trying to put the best we have into these machines, and learning as we go, and that represents I think the best approach we can muster.
