There's a concept called "WEIRD bias" in psychology and social science: we make broad claims about human behavior based on experiments conducted on Western, educated, industrialized, rich, democratic subjects. I think most developers are weird, too. In what ways is the average developer different from most users?

Developers often differ from average users in several key ways: 1. Technical knowledge: Developers have a deep understanding of how software works "under the hood," while most users focus on surface-level functionality. 2. Problem-solving approach: Developers tend to break down issues systematically, while average users might seek quick, intuitive solutions.

3. Comfort with complexity: Developers are often more willing to navigate complex interfaces or systems that might overwhelm typical users. 4. Customization preferences: Developers usually prefer flexibility and customization options, whereas many users favor simplicity and out-of-the-box functionality.

5. Update and security awareness: Developers are generally more conscious of software updates and security practices than average users. These differences can sometimes lead to a disconnect in how developers design products versus how typical users interact with them.
