Elon Musk, JD Vance, and a host of other prominent people have apparently spent the last 24 hours promoting a fake story that Haitian immigrant killed and ate a cat in Ohio. This story is false — there is a non-Haitian woman with mental illness who was arrested for animal abuse, but it went viral as an anti-immigrant story promoted by prominent individuals such as these.

This is the false story @mazmhussain referenced above. The woman in that video is not a Haitian immigrant.

And it wasn't even in Springfield, it was miles away in another part of Ohio entirely.

I'd amend to the following:

- there appears to be an influx of 15-20k Haitian immigrants to Springfield largely due to a growth in manufacturing jobs from at least 3 companies.
- Some citizens have complained at a city council meeting, including one who accused an immigrant of eating a duck. (Important caveat is that we have no idea the veracity of these claims, nor if they even represent the average/accurate view of the situation, people can say whatever they want at these meetings)
- A viral video of a woman (Allexis Telia Ferrell) arrested for eating a cat took place in Canton Ohio, 200 miles from Springfield. There is no reason to believe the woman in the video is Haitian nor an immigrant. 

Despite this, there are now numerous viral posts about immigrants eating neighbors cats/pets and that Trump is the person to elect to put a stop to this.

So is it
- there are a ton of new Haitian immigrants in Ohio
- city council report says they’re eating ducks from the ponds
- the people eating pets aren’t Haitian
