One of my best friends won’t talk to me anymore because I wrote a voter guide that endorsed Prop 36 — a prop that 70% of Californians voted for.

Appeals to agree to disagree have not been met well. The options given to me are admit I’m stupid or don’t be friends anymore.

Any advice?

Emotions are pretty high right now so it might just be a matter of giving things time. 

But you also don't deserve to be treated that way, and if/when things settle down, I would try to communicate that friends shouldn't make those kinds of demands or cut each other off over a difference of opinion.
