Farcaster is unique out of all the alt-socials because it caters to the very small slice of folks who think Elon’s doing a Great Job with X and also for some reason want an alternative The other platforms can leverage disgust for what X has become for growth

imho, disgust in something far away is a recent luxury that we don't necessarily appreciate enough. the best social networks probably learn what a disgust/rage-bound local optima looks like, and steers away into more celebratory/imaginative vibes.

Tbh I’m not sure disgust is right word either. Even if no disgust these ppl feel that harm of X outweighs benefit I think of social like a town square We don’t want screaming, horrible violence in our towns I think the calls for it in our digital towns β€œFC too nice” are childish

"FC too nice" is not just childish calls for more dunks. IMO it's a Minnesota Nice critique. Quoting Wiki: although Minnesota has one of the highest qualities of life of any state, its disparities for quality of life, health, income [...] between White Minnesotans and minority groups [...] is further ironic.

to me, FC discourse does not feel as inclusive as Ethereum. Yet. one day, I hope Farsi speakers are able to find and interact with each other here, without being called bots by the community, having their casts tagged as spam, and shadow-banned out of sight. I don't think we're there yet.

So are you saying it’s fake nice here and people are mad because the niceness is not real? I always interpreted calls for incivility as nothing more than β€œit’s entertaining to watch fights. Because no one fights, it is boring, and by extension less sticky than competitors”
