PolyAccountCasters - why create a channel when you can create an account for your project, allowing account followers to get your announcements? An account used to cost $12/year, now less. A channel costs $25? Doesn't the calculus change when there are 500+ channels, versus 100-ish channels?

Channels allow you to create a community. Also, no one actually wants to engage with a "brand" account.

benefit of channels is that other folks can contribute to conversations related to it i.e. @deform can only post official announcements, product updates, etc. while anyone can join /deform and leave feedback, showcase forms & campaigns, etc.

Is there not a benefit to using a channel vs acct. as backend infra for a project?

Good Q. Seem like visibility in wc is currently the first, best & only reason to rent a channel here. I haven't rented one yet to see what other benefits there are so hoping other folks chime in.

Like having a phone line for support vs a forum for support If you build up your projects community effectively they should be able to / want to help collectively vs requiring a dedicated person to staff the account. 1 vs many, but even better you can do both. If I have to pick one I’m going with channel though

On this topic, I'm already confused as to which channel I should post to. I've got content for ethereum, EVM, zk AND polygon. Are we gonna recreate reddit cross posting? Argh

You posting on project account = you have an audience. People posting about your project on a channel = you have a community. We all strive to build communities.
