Hey @manifoldxyz, I was wondering: if I want an open edition NFT, that cannot be freely minted, but only airdropped, what is the best way to achieve that using Manifold?

It should be simple, right? Maybe as easy as creating the NFT but not the mint page?

I did some of this a while back. Manifold is pretty good. it wasnt hard from my recollection. let me check it later and get back to you.

just reading this now, so yeah basically you have to create a claim edition page and use that in the best way you can to do what you need

I want to give an edition every month to a different person, but I am not yet sure for how long (how many years). The idea is to use the NFT for gating.
If I say it's for this year only, I will create a 12/12, but if I decide to do it next year as well, I will need to create a new one, which will be more difficult to use as an additional key to open a gate.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, maybe I need to do that: mint 12 and see how to solve when the time comes.

Open edition airdrop?

How does that work out?
If you want to airdrop something it’s best to know exact numbers you want to airdrop then when you will be creating MFTbin manifold there is column if you want to mint it for yourself or airdrop.

There you will insert the address.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I will try it with one thing, as an experiment. What I want to do, is to have an NFT that I can drop to the poets of the month I will have in the @trpplffct program this year. So, I don't want anybody else to have it, and I don't know who they will be.

i think you can just mint it as an airdrop with a csv of all the wallets and quantities everyone gets. it won’t open it as a public mint unless you tell it to

Not sure. It's for the poet of the month project, so I want to have an NFT that I can give to the poets, but that cannot be minted. 

Preferrably it's soulbound, too. But that's the next bridge :).

For rhapsody of Ruin I create a claim page, limited to 1 pieces, then airdropped to every wallet I want with one transaction.. but after the airdrop is not mintable anymore, idk if this is what you want
