Found this quote in my EoY notes from a few years ago:

"In the great tradition of start-ups, we started Apple because we wanted the product ourselves. There is 1 person or 2 people who are both the creator and the market so that they know the marketing requirements intuitively because they're the market themselves. They can have the engineering-marketing meeting in their head and arrive at what the product ought to be." - Jobs

perfect day to read this : build for yourself is an advice I keep going back to in hindsight.
