How do you distinguish between real product-market fit and artificially inflated traction? What are the usual signs that give it away for you?

i guess any sudden peaks in traction is a red flag + just dive deeper into having conversations with users

how much they know about your product roadmap / your story etc. is one good sign. 

+ look at actual product behaviour data and try to tally it with ans to your questions (how frequently do you use a product etc?)
