and not even english but slang, expressions, neologisms... i often feel extremely blessed to be english native and constantly amazed at how well people grasp the various aspects of the english language. i live in france and while im pretty fluent en français, i definitely wouldn't want to also write french online

Depends on the context. If they want to do business abroad, I would expect it. When I'm travelling to any country where English isn't an official language, I have expectations for myself (namely that I should be able to pronounce some basics in the respective language).

especially in settings were its now irrelevant like in the EU post-brexit (only eu member states who have english as first language are ireland and malta)

In a way, it's nice to know there's a 'universal' language that can be learned freely to communicate, otherwise it's body language and spending more time learning other languages
