This was inevitable as there is no escaping the Triffen Dilemma. I can't say I'd fancy any of the other fiat currencies to take the helm though, they all seem no better than USD. China wouldn't want it either as it would destroy their exports.

Very true. Another issue is that all attention online is rewarded equally whereas normally this is not the case in a community. We're essentially destroying the fabric of society just to sell more ads.

Thanks. So humans really are tribal creatures where morals and dogma overcome deeper analysis, especially if cognitive function is somewhat limited in the first place. Was this a valid and just prosecution or the use of the judiciary to determine political outcomes? We've seen similar actions in Romania (Georgescu) and also the USA (Trump) in recent years.

I don't see the links between those things and the picture tbh, though I appreciate you may have those other concerns about the current government. I think it's reasonable to deport illegal immigrants for serious crimes and that should be a normal and expected action of a government for the protection of its citizens. Governments are known to lean into the latest social media hypes to convey messaging about policy and outcomes, and this doesn't seem like an exception to this.

What would be the specifics of it though. Would they have to use the Euro and be under the umbrella of the ECB. Would they have to accept the rulings of European Courts? Would Canadians be happy having their legislation and laws determined by Brussels? How about tax rises to support European pensioners, some of whom get to retire earlier? This seems more like a thought exercise in tribal alignment rather than a serious consideration.
